2000 XJ lift recommendation

So I am currently a student and I have had my 2000 XJ for five years. So its about time for a lift. I need a lift that is affordable and will be able to with stand my 400 hundred mile trek from school to my parents house atleast 7 times a year. I have 168 miles and counting and I am only trying to go 2 inches so i can keep my stock tires. Trying not to rob my gas millage as this jeep is my daily driver and sometimes i pay with quarters at the pump lol.
Any reccomendations for a lift would be greatly appreciated.

Bastard pack, I work full time and go to school full time and still have the time to make a bastard pack.

Why would you lift it if your not putting bigger tires on. Isn't that the whole point of a lift.

That's the same thing I was thinking. Seems like a waste of money to me.

I know a few guys that had fairly new, slightly oversized tires(about a 29"), and didn't want to buy new tires. Just wanting to make a slight change in stance. Thus a 2" lift.

More clearance for the slightly larger than stock(235/85r15 vs 235/75r15) to keep the tires out of the fenders when flexing.....? What more reason do you need? Not everyone needs bigger tires than slightly larger than stock.

Hell optimal tire size for a 3" lift is supposed to be 31"s, I was cutting the hell out of my tires with new springs that are stiffer than most other options on the market, and LCAs with polyurethane bushings, a suspension that is not great for flex compared to company's like Currie, RE, etc.... I was following TJs on 35"s when i was on 31"s with RE superflex arms and 4" RC coils, trimmed fenders and was barely keeping my tires out of my fenders. It's all about how/where you wheel.

Use bumpstops to keep tires from hitting the fenders. A lift is not the proper fix for this problem.

When you wheel where we wheel, up travel is important, otherwise you are bottoming out your suspension on the route getting to the trails.

Maybe he just thinks it will look better.... I think xjs should of come from the factory with 2-3" lift and 31s it just plain looks better IMO.

I'm going for a better ride, less embarrassing squeaking and yea the look. Thanks for all the info hopefully I can make moves on this soon. The only place I would take it would be the few spots in north fl where you can drive on the sand. Luckily our sand is pretty packed down, I have been in a more than a few rigs that have no problem in the sand with out 4 wheel drive
