I have a 2000 model and the e-fan has stopped functioning. I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if so what is the solution. I'd hate to replace the entire fan only to find out the problem is a bad switch or relay.
You can easily test the fan by just running 12v from the battery. There is a relay someplace, I have an 89 and it is near the airbox. Also there is a temp sensor located in the thermostat housing that controls it, you can probably test resistance with an multimeter. Those are the three things I would test first.
Does it not come on when it gets hot?
Does it come on with the AC?
