2000 cherokee sport 4.0L oil pressure problems any ideas?

I have a 2000 cherokee sport 4.0L with 91k on it. I have only owned it a few days but I noticed yesterday, that when I drive it for around an hour and then let it sit and idle the oil pressure will drop down between 15-20 lbs. if you give it a little gas it jumps back up about 40 lbs. all the rest of the time it holds 40 lbs. I drove it to work this morning and its about a 30 minute drive and it was still holding just right below 40lbs.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Danny

You've just described a perfectly normal Jeep!
