Question 2000 Cherokee Help!!!

I recently had to replace my radiator hose and the line that goes from the coolant reservoir to the radiator. The damage was pretty bad. I was wondering if this type of damage is normal. I live in a bad part of town and my apartment has been broken into, so I'm wondering if it's possible that someone might be messing with my car. My dad works on cars a lot and he said that the coolant line looks like it could have been cut. I guess I'm just a little paranoid and want to know if damage to these parts normally looks like this.

Kinda looks more like a rip to me then a cut but I am noticing that you are missing the plastic that goes over the hose around the AC compressor area.

That looks like a hose failure to me. I just replaced a coolant line on my truck a few weeks ago that burst in the exact same place. And yes on that hose guard, you need to find one of those before you replace that hose, or make your own.

How did this person get the hood open ?

Looks to me like simple failure of old hoses. 3x on the hose guard, and you need a mechanical fan shroud.

At a glance: the line to the tank WAS cut, but by the fan because you've got no fan shroud. It's got the slack to hang that low if the shroud isn't there to keep it out.

The larger hose just looks to have bubbled out and then split right behind the clamp, which is a very common way for them to fail.
