2000 4.0 XJ distributor swap

Basically I have a 00 Cherokee 4.0 new long block. After I swapped motors out it shot me some code. I'm assuming the code is from leaving the battery system unhooked for a week or so. The Jeep was then rear ended and totaled. So now I have a long block that needs a home. My question is this. Can i put a mechanical distributor in it and bypass having to transfer all the wiring to a new home? If so what would I need to rob a distributor out of to get it to work? Btw my thought is to use it in a samurai. Any information that I can get on the 4.0 is always appreciated and thank you for your time in this matter.

Will the Jeep 4.0L fit in a Sammy ? The answer is yes, a distributor will fit and function in the 2000-01 Jeep 4.0L Cam Sensor hole.

So I hear and read multiple things: When I'm setting the ignition coil, is it pointing directly at the #1 spot on the distributor cap or a lil bit past it going clockwise?

Why don't you start a new thread for this. This really has nothing to do with the original post.

While you're at it, you can fill in your Jeep info by clicking "My Account" at the top of the page.
