2 Inch Lift Questions

Looking at Rustys, Rubicon Express, Rock Lizard and OME, all four look really good kits, especially Rustys at the price for coils and shocks included. I can probably get an OME lift down at ARB at a really good price, which leads me that way. Just wondering peoples opinions about these four products, don't need a lot of lift but the stock shocks are shot and a 2 inch lift will be boon for towing and she will look a lot better.

98 XJ still stock for now

If you can get a OME, I'd go that route.

old man emu is definately the way to go if you have the cash.

Those are probably the 4 nicect bb's out there, all good choices, choose what fits your budget and comes with shocks.

Rustys now has a 2" kit with coils and leaf packs I beleive.

You could, and it's the cheapest way out. While there is nothing terribly wrong with spacers. The shackles will make your stock leaf springs sag pretty quick.

Some people just prefer to have coils over spacers too. It just makes for a cleaner look. The only problem with spacers is that in theory with stock springs, under compression you will overcompress your springs leading to premature wear and sagging. But this has not been an issue for 98% of people that use spacers. If you like you could just extend your bumpstops by 2" and that won't be a problem.

Yeah, I am "driving" proof of that. My leafs went sag within 6 months, albeit they had 160,000+ when I did the shackels and coils (w/spacers)as well. I just picked up an UpCountry suspension which should get me back to 2.5+" which is where I want to be on my DD. The '91 however, the sky is the limit. hehehe

OME suspension kits are between $700 and $800.

yeah the OME kits, to me, are extremely pricey. i would rather spend the 1000 and get a RE 4.5" kit with the packs, then the 750 for a OME 2" kit with new packs.

but hey, to each his own

Don't forget the sye @ $250.00+, tc drop etc...yeah OME kits are pricey for only 2" but if you want a true 2" instead of the BB junk that will cost you $$$$ latter on then IMHO it is worth the cost. I learned that the hard way...

but like you said, to each his own.

Peace.

I have a HD OME 3" Lift, and it is amazing. I have had it for about 8 months and it is awesome. The only thing I would recommend doing is not buying from rockyroad outfitters, because I wasn't too happy with their service. However, before the lift, my jeep felt really tippsy around corners and now it has a much better ride, and it doesn't even rattle much on very washboarded roads at high speeds. I didn't need a t/c drop, but my bro's 98 did? And if you order the kit in peices like i did, then you can do with just the 2 rear leafs, 2 front coils, shocks, and a steering stabilizer if you need a new one, I got the 3/8" spacers to put in place of the factory rubber spring covers, and new rubber bushings for the leaf springs. I ordered new u bolts, then after i got them i used them, but didn't really need to, the old ones were long enough to clear the springs. But if you can get an OME lift, do it cuz it is an awesome lift, although it is expensive.

nope, they just offer coils w/ their lift (which I think is really cool)

If you're thinking about going higher in the near future, then you could proly just get as has been previosly stated: another cherokee pack from the junkyard that can last a lil' longer, or a better option would be the durango/dakota pack. If you're already done trimming, then you just need to do proper bumpstopping, and you should be set...
