thanks for the bump. Started lifting today!!! what a *****! Took 12 hours to remove everything from the rear and were able to put one leaf spring back on. Didnt break a single bolt, but had to cut the two front leaf spring bolts. We ended up reusing the two we didnt cut up from the shackles up front and bought new grade 8s with lock washers and lock nuts for the rear. Worked out great! I know some might flame me for reusing bolts, but i have to get this drivable asap, and ordering new bolts is out of the question right now. Plus my brake lines are corroded and we busted a hardline which we have to fix. All in all it took 12 hours to remove the leaves, rear shocks, rear swaybar, ubolts, and bolt ONE new spring in. We really did not have the tools needed. But anyways here are some pics of in the process. Pretty close to what it looks like now besides the floor being cleaned up and a new spring in. Oh and my new favorite buddy is the angle grinder that i bought.
![]() ![]() ![]() OH and i need to know what to torq the bolts too... Leaf springs: Shocks: Ubolts: |

Do you have an impact gun,? If you dont id suggest getting one. If you dont want to put the cash down for an air setup, an electric one will be pretty good. WOrking with air tools can pretty much cut the work time in half. Looks like fun though... it will definatley be worth the work.

Wow, first off, I love the color of your rig. Second, I really admire how neat and tidy everything is. I hope it stays that way! What are your plans in the rubber department?

Ill be running 31x10.5 cooper discoverer STTs on 15x8 cragar soft 8s with 4.0 backspacing and the stock jeep center caps. Ill get a pic of that too, but no tires yet. Oh, and toolwise, we have access to every possible tool we would need. My uncle has a garage full of every tool imaginable, and so does another friend of my mom/dad. We are using a Chicago electric/harbor freight electric impact and it works great! |

Got some pics up. Not the best. The commander was in the way!
First, the hole cut in the floor. That under the rear seat behind the front passengers. ![]() New lock nut, the old weld nut is still there, but we drilled through it. This holds just as great. Im probably going to have this welded to the frame when we get the floor patched back together. ![]() Heres the rear. Its a far as we got. Yielded 5.5" of lift after the SAGGED height was measured. It was sagged quite a bit. ![]() Wheel and center caps. Any ideas for putting the center caps on? ![]() New to us commander and my XJ as it sits with a broken brakeline. ![]() |
