Ok guys, here is the "purchase"...
All though it may not seem like much to some, I SCORED A HUGE DEAL HERE! Here is the story. I am driving down I-77, and i have no idea that i am missing 2 lugs nuts from one wheel.... seems like suicide huh? The rest were all loose when i checked em (all 4 wheels)... anyways, i get to the Dover exit and the dude in front of me rolls down his window and looks back at me to put my window down, so i open my door (damn window doesnt work). It went something like this... Guy (i have no idea who he is at his point, just some dude in truck): "Do you want to buy a set of KC lights?" Me: "Yeah, how much?" Guy: "What?" Me (yelling): "HOW MUCH?" Guy: "20 bucks." Me: "What?" Guy: "Pull over to the BP" So... i pull into the BP and this guy introduces himself as (well call him Bob) Bob. I introduce myself and i find out that this dude owned a black 97+ XJ with a Surco rack and a load of lights. He returned the XJ back to stock (minus the bushwackers) and sold it for 9k. Soooo.... he had these lights leftover... ![]() ![]() ![]() You guessed it right... 6" KC Slimlites....black titanium finish... 130 watts of burn your eyes out. ... he offered them, i bought them. Only used for 1 month, retail for about 170 for the pair.... I got em for $45 bucks!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() thats the story of my life... ![]() |

DAMN! That's one hell of a deal! My reverse lights are 100w each and they are INTENSE! Putting them on the rack?

Yeah. I just bought 55w bajas too. Im gonna put the 2 KCs in the center with a baja on each end and see how it looks. If it looks bad ill just change it.

I'd throw the baja's on the bumper, plenty of light with them and the high beams close up, then those crazy KC's up top to throw light way far in front. One on either side of the rack would look bomb.

Im gonna experiment with them to get the best look. Im curious to see if this would look good on the rack.
[||] (||) (||) [||] I think it might turn out pretty cool looking. If not ill just put the bajas on the bumper. |

yeah i agree on the bumper. miss matching lights on the roof rack wouldnt look the best from what im thinking. who knows though, both lights have the same looking rock gaurds so you might be able to pull it off
sweet score on the lights. id like to get some of those after i get a jcr low profile roof rack

Great thread! I plan on installing the same lift in a couple months when I can afford it. I have the same rack as you too, had it for about 2 years.

I enjoyed your '99 build thread. I've had my '99 since it was a year old and still loving it! I also have the Surco rack but installed an extra pair of cross bar supports. It makes the rack at least twice as sturdy and I climb up on it often with no problems.

hey i was gonna bump this up anyways cause if just installed (not wired) the lights today. Used FitchVAs idea of using angle iron with holes and mounting it up, allowing the lights to be mounted in any configuration. I mounted the KCs in the middle with the bajas on the outside. It actually doesnt look too bad, and i took off my factory fogs since they stopped working (Relay and Switch are up for grabs, Fogs spoken for). Ill get some pics up in the garage since it is dark out now, but i painted the angle iron and took a butane torch to it to harden the paint and am waiting for it to cool.
The angle iron was about 5 bucks for 4 feet (i chopped about 8 inches off) and the bolts were like 1.00 total. A great, and cheap solution and it looks pretty Badass. |

Pics of my light setup. I painted the angle iron with gloss rustoleum and when it was a little tacky went over it with a torch to cure the paint. I actually like how the KCs and Bajas look together. Thanks to FitchVA for yet another genious idea. Now i just need to make a relay box and switch box to wire them up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
