1999 jeep cherokee check engine light

my 1999 cherokee sport's check engine light came on today. The first thing I did was go to autozone and have them check for any error codes with the OBDII. The tech said there were no codes. He also so to disconnect the negative side of the battery for 5 min. to reset the light. I did that and it worked. I then started to drive home. When I got home I turned the jeep off and restarted it to see if the light would come back on. Sure enough it did. Can anyone help me????

Go back to the parts store and tell the grease monkey to pull his head out of his ***. If you have a CEL, you have codes.

When you get back with the codes, post here:

They will know what you're talking about more than we will.

Do you have an Advance Auto Parts near you? They let you use the reader yourself, then you bring it in and they print out the codes and give them to you (along with what the code means, which is really nice). You could always look on the actual code reader too if they told you there was nothing to print.

hey guys I took the jeep back to the auto store and there still was no code. but I figured out what was wrong. earlyier in the day my husband was troubleshooting an air conditioning problem and moved some fuses around. well he put one fuse in the wrong spot. after we got back from the second trip to the parts store. we went through everything he touched AGAIN! I had him put another fuse in the open spot and reset the codes again. the check engine light went away and hasent come back. thanks for all your help everyone
