1991 XJ 4X4 problems( part time 4X4)

In my 1991 cherokee I was driving to work the other day and the roads were Icy and snowy in areas, the problem when I had in 4Hi( part time) when I would go from a slick patch to dry pavement it seemed like the wheels were at different speeds from the front to back and it wanted to kind of pull the steering wheel to the side making the jeep kind of unstable. Anyone have any Ideas what would be causing this?

Sounds like 4wd is working.

Get your alignment checked, and check your tire pressure all around.

While you are checking the tire pressure take a good look at your tire sizes on all four tires. Any difference at all in tire size and you will feel it in 4 wheel drive.
