'01 XJ idle drop and sporadic bucking

Hi ,
Sean here from the TJ side . I have a question for you guys about a problem with a fellow student's 2001 XJ (auto 4.oL ) . She tells me that it sometimes has a very low idle dip when slowing to a stop , so much that she has to hold the gas pedal down to keep it from stalling . This condition is randomly accompanied with a bucking condition . Any thoughts or insight on this would be greatly appreciated .

.............. she's been throwing parts at it in an attempt to correct it ~ (map sensor , idle position sensor ). No codes as far as i know .

Thanks , Sean

My 97XJ did something similar, throttle position sensor, no codes, there a diagnostic procedure in Haynes manual, I forget the resistance values.
