`00 Rear Dana 35 noise when I let off gas

Sounds like a clunking noise when I let off the gas, more noticeable at higher speeds, speeding up to merge on and then letting off the gas a bit once im doin 60-70. Also heard sometimes around lower speeds.. I have a 3" skyjacker w/ 31 10.5s, I do have shaft vibe because I havent installed the transfer case lowering kit yet,the rear "had" alum lift blocks and they broke last year, I replaced them with solid steel plate and new U bolts, I checked the U bolts, they are tight, u joints are ok.. There is a little back and forth slop in the rear end, but it doesnt seem too bad.. output shaft on transfer case has slop up and down ( that doesnt seem right does it? ) it doesnt leak... ANY IDEAS???? Thanks

yes lug nuts are tight too

First, are you sure it's coming from the rear end? In the center section area? Second, is this a stick or automatic?

When you say "back and forth slop in the rear end", can you be more specific? Do you mean the pinion shaft can be moved back and forth? Because the pinion should not move at all.

No, the slop on the T-case output shaft should not be there at all either. This and the pinion shaft should only have rotational movement.

These are signs of serious problems if I'm interpreting correctly.

Check the Ujoints at the driveshaft and look for contact marks on the pinion yokes.

If you are running 3" lift blocks, that could also be part of the problem when gassing it.
