Insurance question for Ontario Canada

On a car forum I frequent a user is having trouble getting a modified car insured in Ontario Canada. It seems most insurance companies up there frown on any type of modification. Since most Jeeps are modified in some way how are you getting insurance if you have a modified Jeep in Ontario?

Current: 2005 Wrangler Unlimited - Past: 90 and 92 Trackers and 98 Wrangler SE

Easy - find an underwriter that is OK with it. I told mine about my Metal Cloak fenders, 35" tires, suspension upgrades, etc, and they were fine with it all. They would not insure me if I swapped engines or axles (yet another reason to do a Super 35).

It might take some calling around, but it's worth disclosing. My rates came out the same when I switched carriers to be fully covered.

Exactly what is the definition of "Modification"? Non stock tires but, of the same size, is this a modification? There are plenty of modified Jeeps in Canada. Where do they get their insurance.

We've got a Stock Jeep (for now! cause she's only a week old) and a VERY moded Xterra and haven't had a single problem with Chieftan insurance
