Importing a modded Jeep from the US?

Has anyone ever imported an already modified Jeep into Canada?

Let me start of by saying that I'm rather familiar with the whole import process (papers 3 days ahead, customs, etc etc). But I have no idea how the RIV (or customs) will react when seeing a car that differs quite a bit from the bone stock vehicle (ie can't go unnoticed).

There are a bunch of interesting cars in the for sale section, but they're in the US, and usually have 4" of lift and 33-35" tires. I'd love to get one, but not to get stuck at the border because it's not stock (doh! that's why I bought it!).

Worst case scenario, I'll just get ahold of 4 springs/shocks, 4 stock wheels, drive across, and get back to normal +4" height 200' after the border.

I would think that they would be ok if they meet the codes here - DOT lights and tires - tires cannot go past the fenders etc.. I don't think Warn bumpers (the short ones) are legal because they do not go past the tires. You have to change the speedometer as well. No exhaust leaks etc. Be easier to get one from here and bring it back with you - no rust at all.

Oooh.... i've brought in two modified vehicles... first was my jacked bronco II and second was my TJ that I brought over in july.

All you need are the customs forms, vehicle title and money.

The guys at the border had no problems with either. They didn't even bother to look at it. You don't have to worry about how it looks till you go for inspection. You'll be fine.
