I'm looking to buy a 8x16 enclosed trailer to move across country. It weighs 2,500 lbs empty. Who knows how much it will way with all my crap in it.

I have the 99 limited WJ with towing package. The thing is I have never towed anything with it. So i'm very nervouse about. I don't want my transmission to blow up while I'm in the middle south dakota.

Could someone please give me some advice on what I should or should not do? Or if you have done something similiar I would sure like to know it can be done.

looks like no one's replied in the last month. i was searching for answers, and i happened to stumble on this thread. i just towed about 6,000 lbs w/ my 4.7 WJ from sturgis, mi to chicago. pulled like a champ, but i had some suspension sagging issues due, in part, to how the weight was distributed on the trailer. anyway, if you have the 4.7, i think you'll be OK. just watch the weight distribution over the trailer (get most of the weight just in front of the trailer's axle).

i should note that i have the tow package with the trans & power steering coolers... i'm sure that helped a lot

I guess 2500 lbs is a light weight to be towed by any WJ

i dont think you'll have a problem, i've flat towed my TJ with my WJ plenty of times, and my WJ is a 4.0
