What size utility trailer is better?

I have a 94 ZJ Limited with 4.0L and what I think is a stock tow package. I believe it says on the hitch frame that the 6cyl can take loads upto 5000lbs.

I have pretty much made up my mind to get a Big Tex open utillity trailer (model 30sa) for lugging lawn tractor, brush, and anything else too big or too messy to put inside my GC.

My main question I have is what size to get. I origianally thought 5x8 is all I would need and was pretty much set on that size. I found out they have this identical trailer in a 5x10 for only $50 more. Should I go bigger in case I ever need to carry some future unknown item that is 9-10 feet long or stay a little lighter and compact?

I tried to think of all of the things I could ever possibly carry and unless I get a 10ft row boat or load the trailer up with multiple items, I am not sure what type of things I might need to carry that would require the bigger size.

Any personal experience out there that can be shared quickly. I was hoping to go dealer in the early afternoon today.

If space wasn't a concern I would go for the 10 foot, unless you are absolutly sure you will never need anything over 8 feet. The 2 feet will probably come in handy down the road and you may be kicking yourself for paying the extra 50 bucks for the 10 foot.

Considering the small difference in price and the potential for future use, I would go with the 10 ft trailer.

You never know when it will come in handy, and I assure you, eventually it will.

The 2 foot difference should not make a difference to your Vehicles ability to haul it. As long as you stay within tow weight limits and load properly.

Thank you very much for the input. I tipped the scale many times trying to decide 5x8 or 5x10. I was leaning towards 5x10 up until I went out to measure where I was going to park it. It would have fit but I tried to picture turning it around in my driveway that always has 1 or more cars parked there also.

I am sure I will kick myself later, but I stuck with the 5x8.

BTW, I looked at a few different trailers, and this Big Tex seemed to be the best by far. The construction was much heavier than the others and the wheels were much bigger (15" rims on the 30SA vs 12",13",14" on the others I saw). This trailer was about $1300 (ended up $1550 after registration, inspection, plug adaptor, new ball and then taxes).

I will reply back when my wife needs me to pick-up a 8.5 ft credenza so you guys can say I told you so.
