what hitch for my zj?

I need to add a trailer hitch to my zj for towing (prob very light duty) and more importantly be strong enough for use if I were to get stuck on the trail. As of know I have no anchor points and figured this would kill to birds with one stone. Ideas?

Be sure it's 2"
Most accessories like multi mount winch plated, bike racks etc are 2"

I have used etrailer.com over the years for hitches and other stuff. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

get a factory mopar one from a junkyard, probably cost you less than 50 bucks. make sure its not rusty.
the factory mopar hitch is a class III/IV, and with it since you have the V8 you can tow up to 6500lbs (with a weight distributing hitch and all the other goodies). has a nice mount on it for a 7 way plug as well. another thing i like about the mopar hitch is that it tucks fairly tight up under the bumper, so there is less chance of it getting caught on something while off roading. when i bought my ZJ, it had a reese hitch on it, I swapped it out specifically because it hung so low (bottom of the reciever was a good 2-3 inches below the level of the gas tank skid)

Reliability is relative

Great info. I'll see what's out there. Unfortunately, chances are if there is one at th jy in my area, it is pobly rusted out cuz everyone with a hitch is launching boats or jet ski's. But I like where your head is at! Thanks

Update...... Ordered a stock tow package from a semi-local salvage yard, one of those that remove parts and inventory them. They had to get it from another yard of there's that's a few hrs away so ill be picking it up tues. After wards ill prob have the local aftermarket shop that I got my tires from do the wiring.....I'm bad news when it comes to wires! oohh yea, ran me 90 bucks. Fuds sure are pround of removing them parts.
