Two Jeeps no waiting

I'm doing some work for a friend of mine trying to find a goose neck to rent from Dallas for a week long trip to Durango. We have two Jeeps (CJ5 and TJ) and would like to save on gas and comfort. He has a Dodge Megacab 2500 Cummings and is willing to set it up for a goose neck and eventually buy a trailer. Does anyone know of a place to rent and if so how long would the trailer haveto be. Any advise would be appreciated.

I don't know about renting a gooseneck, but I have had two Jeeps on a trailer, and I can tell you: the longer the better. Someone might make the technical observation that a jeep is about 13 feet long and what with the overhang, you could get two jeeps on a 26 foot trailer. Don't believe it. If you do, you will be miserable.

A longer trailer is no more difficult to pull than a shorter one. And if you find it for rent the difference will be minimal. I'd look for a 32 foot at a minimum.

32 feet is more then enough of deck space, I'd do a 30 foot, thats more then enough. Is the mega cab a 48RE, 6 speed manual or the new 6 speed auto?

The mega cab is a short bed, so if he has a truck bed box you may have trouble fitting it all in the bed. I don't have a truck yet but just putting that out there.

I actually have a truck with a deck that is exactly 32 feet, so I wasn't just guessing as to what is needed. One of the problems is the tie downs. If you have the tow points hanging over the end of the trailer you can't do a really good job of tying the Jeeps down. And, if you can't get between them, you have to do everything from the sides. In the theoretical world, 26 feet wold work. In the real world, 32 is the minimum. And, what does it hurt to have a few extra feet. If anthing, it will tow better because you can balance the jeeps a little bit.
