Travel Trailer Towing

I have a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with a 3.2L V6, I would like to know if anyone has towed a travel trailer with one and how smooth was the whole trip. I know it says you can tow up to 4,500 lbs.

Your biggest problem will probably be sway. I towed a 23' TT with my XJ several times and that was my biggest issue. A good weight distribution setup with sway control will help a lot.

I had a 01 Grand Cherokee that had the same problem. I didn't use a weight distributing hitch or any saw control. I have since gotten a different tow vehicle.

But if you are looking of ideas on a trailer I have one like pictured below. In a period of about 5 years I had 3 different camper trailers and I have kept this one. I like it allot. it is 2400 lbs empty and plenty of room. This is just a random add I pulled of the net. My trailer is identical.

here is the layout and specs

and a few pics.

If you don't I dealing with the tents you get a lot more living space in a hybrid. We've got a Jayco 23B and really like the room.

Pulling a trailer

Keep your weight as light as possible. If possible tow the trailer that you want before you buy it. Just to see how everything works. Trailer "sway" is not a good thing. This means that your "tongue" weight is to light. Your trailer set-up has to be right also. If you do have sway, try to keep all of your heavy gear towards the front of the trailer. Sway is a dangerous thing at highway speeds. Be safe.

The hybrid is a nice setup. Your beds are out of the way. No more having to take up and down the dinette. You get allot more room with basically no added weight. I can tow a 16 foot trailer down the road, park it. I open a couple latches and instantly another 8 feet of room in my trailer. In about 3 minutes my 16 foot trailer is 25 feet long.
