Trailer or tow bar?

I need to tow a '97 TJ about 125 miles this weekend. The vehicle has a 4" lift and 33" tires. Would it be better to put it on a trailer or use a tow bar? Since it's a bumper pull bar, all four wheels would be rollin'. The other option would be the car trailer.

If towing weight didnt matter. I would put wear on a trailer before I put any on my jeep.

It doesn't matter--as long as you do either correctly.

Flat towing is the easiest and least expensive. Trailer towing has the benefit of being able to get your rig home if you break something on the trail.

To flat tow, you need the tow bar and some tow lights (probably in stock at your local Harbor Freight). Disconnect the positive battery cable in your TJ. Put the key in the ignition and turn it on (to unlock the steering wheel). Put the 4wd transfer case in nuetral. Put your transmission in Park if an automatic or in gear if it is a stick.

I added an extra safety chain to my setup.

does it matter if you have auto lockers, i was told if flat towing that it would be impossible to turn.

For added safety. hook up your winch cable to the chain hooks on the truck you are pulling with

If you have acess to a trailer, use it. If not, the towbar will be fine as long as it is used properly.

Auto lockers do not matter.

A spool on your front axle would cause issues--whether you are flat towing or driving.
