Mine has a removable tongue. Take that off and someone has to be really motivated to steal my 1000 pound trailer. They could forklift it on to a flat bed, or maybe show up with their own tongue, or try some other contraption - or move on to an easier target.

The problem with locks and chains is that anyone with a $100 cordless angle grinder is likely to be through it in 30 seconds.

^A removable tongue is a good idea, and one I'll consider having my trailer modified for? So far I'm looking at multiple items. Maybe I'll also drop some spent rifle casings around it like I was siting in the rifle before taking that hike!

It works out really well. Besides deterring theft, it also makes the trailer take up a lot less space in the driveway.

...or they might decide that there must be guns in the trailer, providing an incentive to break into it or steal it.
