Trailer Lights not working

I have a 2005 grande cherokee limited and the trailer lights are not getting power? Is there a fuse that might have been blown that could cause this problem? THe lights on the vehicle work fine.

Have you checked the harness with a multimeter?

Is the trailer light hookup from the factory on your Jeep? If so, a 05 ought be under warranty. If not factory, did you buy the factory harness? The d#@m factory harness for about $60?

On newer vehicles with a "towing package" there is normaly a fuse for running lights, and for each brake/turn.

I've been here before. I've left with nothing working and arriving with full functioning lights. Here are some common issues I've found. Your trailer is grounded from the connection between your hitch and ball. Make sure the trailer is actually hooked up. You can't check the lights by just backing up close and plugging the lights in. If the trailer is hooked onto the Jeep and still nothing is working, try cleaning up inside of the hitch with some steel wool or some type of abrasive to clean up the metal. Do this to the ball also. Alot of times, just driving with the trailer a short distance will clean up the connection from the metal grinding and rubbing together. I do not approve of driving without trailer lights, though! You might try this out to see if it helps.
