towing

Hey Guys,
just wondering if any one knows if I can tow a 2004 tj with an automatic transmision with the front wheels on a dolly behind a motor home? I think you can tow if its a manual trans but not to sure if you can with the auto. Any feedback would be helpfull
Thanks Ken

Or maybe I'm better off using one of those tow bars and flat towing it. Still not to sure if I can do this with an automatic tranny? Seems like alot of you guys like the tow bar ...but do you have manual tranmissions? Someone locally has told me that if I keep your tranfer case in nuetral I can tow it how ever I'd like (on a 2 wheel dolly or flat ). Just want to make sure before I do it . I don't want to mess anything up.

Lots of guys flat tow without issues. Check your owners manual but mine says to put the transmission in park and transfer case in neutral.

I had been having an issue with towing my YJ because of the aussie locker in the front but I have that all sorted out now.

You can dolly tow it using the instructions in the owner's manual. If you are really worried, just pull your driveshaft and you don't even have to worry about your transfercase. 5 minutes with a wrench and you are back on the road.

My '04 TJ manual says do not tow it on a dolly. Flat tow (4 down) only. It is an auto and I flat tow often with no problems. TC in nuetral, Tranny in Park, Key on 1st click.
