Tow Rig/Trailer questions

OK, wondering the weight of empty trailers on average? 16, 18 and 20 foot, both steel and wood decks, newer trailers.

I have been having issues finding the empty weight on the manufacturer websites....

Also, been lookin at a 1997 Dodge Ram Club cab, with tow package, if the truck and trailer have tow brakes, would a 20ft trailer be too much for this truck?

What bout a 18ft steel floor trailer?

Dont worry, for all the diesel fans, im working on trying to make a deal on a 00 Ford Excursion 7.3 stroke, just not sure if it will come through or not...

Thanks

Depending on the what the Dodge is a 20 ft might be to much for it. As for the weight of a trailer it depends but average is around 1600-2500 lbs empty. The better number to look at is the gross weight rating for the trailer and the towing for the truck. As for brakes most states require braking for a trailer gross over 3000 lbs from what I remember.

the dodge has a tow rating of 7600lbs, so a 3k trailer and 3k jeep would be ok, i would think...

It may not matter though, im chasing down a 97 F250 Powerstroke, I really do want the 7.3!
