OK... while this is not a jeep. It is a jeep hauler... half RV half garage. to start we have a 1989 S1600 International former U Haul moving Van. 7.3 with manual 5 speed. 215K on the clock...
So the back 15' will be the garage for my 04' TJ
divider wall with pocket door...
the front will be a basic RV with a bed over the cab (in the attic) with a coach and basic galley frig/sink/mircowave... AC
finish / insolate the walls and ceiling
RV door w/ screen
couple of RV windows
DC and AC lighting
The idea is that this is a toterhome redneck mullet style...
business up front and party in the back!
if there is a better spot to post please let me know
Moved to Trailers & Towing forum.
For inspiration, a friend's redneck motorhome based on a Mack truck.
OK... got her home this weekend:
cleaned out the cab... 24 years of crud...
painted the fuel tanks and drivers side step... head light bezels and front bumper black...
purchased: accordian gasket (pass thru between cab and box) service manuals, auto loader ramps...
now I need to work on getting RV windows, remove the bench and locate and install air buckets seats...
Off to the islands for a week of camping on the beach...
I like the idea of the pass thru. With all the room in there, I think you could live in it with your Jeep! :)
Keep us up-to-date...
I have the plans all draw aout in auto cad... not sure of the easiest way to up load them here... basically the back 15" or so will be garage... the front half will have a coach and small galley... bed over the cab
I really like where you're going with this. How about a winch to tow your Jeep up the ramp and inside?
might add a winch to the toter... will definitely have an attachment point so I can use a winch on the TJ to roll her in... for now I will be driving her in... and it is a tight fit! will post pics of her in side when I return from the islands and the ramps have arrived
OK... some progress has been made... got her tagged and registered...
Fixed an exhaust leak where a soup can had been used to connect the header to the muffler (what can I say south florida)
Got the ramps in along with a bunch of RV windows...
sorted out a few other things in the engine bay...
and rolled the TJ in... front tires up over and infront of the wheel well humps... plenty of room!
These guys did a fantastic job getting me ramps that are light, strong and very reasonably priced!
around $500 including shipping! 7'-10" knife
Cut a man-door in that thing, too. Up front. Tool storage/shop area comes to mind. Looking forward to how it turns out.
AutoCAD files: I print them in PDF's, then convert the file to a png, and upload to Jeep Forum. Not sure if that's the best way, but it works.
Tune up parts arrrived to day... glo plugs all the filters... remanned injectors... along with a steering pump braket which apperently was recalled at some point. Yesterday I picked up two air ride high back seats out of a scrap yard for $100... cleaned them up and they are off to be recoverd. This weekend looks like tune up time and maybe get the passage cut between the cab and the box.
old bench seat... out!
new... used air rides $100
driver's side in and passage way cut...
replaced the remaining 'glass' with plexi... and installed the accordian gasket (4.5") but it was a bit tight... ordering the 7.5"
from inside the box
also got the new glow plugs in along with the steering pump bracket... injectors next weekend!
I dig these kinds of projects :)
So Easter weekend... so a little busy but managed to get one of the RV windows in.
From the inside:
Ripped down a 2x4 to trim out the inside... so there is something to mount the paneling to...
