Scored a new Trailer!

Yesterday I found a smokin deal on an old military style trailer in, what I consider, really good condition. I've been wanting something to take hunting and camping for a while but haven't really put much effort into it. After seeing the Trailer Givewaway on this forum for the 10th time it finally got to me. I jumped on craigslist and did a quick search. To my surprise, not more than 2 miles from my house was exactly what I was looking for!

I'll snap a pic tonight when I get home to share. Maybe some of the trailer guys here can shed some light on what year they think it is. A few upgrades have been done to it already but I'm already dreaming up how I want to rebuild and upgrade it.

Here it is. Can anyone shed some light on what year they think it is?

Argh. You are one lucky guy. I've been looking for a nice M416 or Bantam or Canadian equivalent for quite some time. Around here they are tough to find, and when you do locate one they are overpriced and beat to hell. That one looks like it's in great shape. It's had some modifications to it which will sicken some of the purists, but that means you can mod it further without tainting an original piece of military history.

Great find!

BTW I'll offer you $500 for it right now

It's either a m100, bantam, or a civilian model. Check out expeditionportal for a bunch of build threads on these type trailers.

Here's a build thread over on expedition portal using a similar trailer. Might give you some good ideas...

http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...ad.php?t=41123

Notice in the first post the condition of the trailer and what the OP paid for it. That should make you feel good about your buy

Don't tell my wife, she'd probably sell it to you in a heart beat for $500. She said "$270.00 for that?, If you say so, we will need something that can move things if we sell the truck".

Thanks for the insight. I found this one on another site and really like how it looks:

I don't suppose you know of any others down your way? I'd make a quick trip to Phoenix for a $270 M100 any day

Edit: What search terms did you use to find it? I've been looking through various Craigslist regions to find one of these and can't seem to figure out an efficient term to use to return what I want.

This one was listed under "Jeep trailer" but I also searched "Military trailer". There was another trailer similar to this one listed on the phoenix CL with "best offer" but I called the guy and he said he's had an offer for $800.00. It was pretty beat up and rusty too.

If I see another one I'll send you a PM with a link.

i believe what you have is a civilian model bantam.. they were built with a tailgate and the stake pockets are a bit of a giveaway, i also believe the civilian model also came with a ball type hitch, i know a little bit but im no expert, 270 bucks , nice score !!!
i have just fininshed giving my trailer a makeover since the the colour didnt match my new rubi, it took me most of the winter when i had time but it has turned out ok i think, next up is to lift the jeep and 35's all the way around

i started with this

and built it into this ,

I saw one with a tailgate like that on one of the bantam threads on one of the older jeep sites. The tailgate looks like what they called a Spen brand trailer but most of the rest looks like my Bantam T3C. Try this link I think you have a Spen.

^Good call. The Tailgate does look a lot like the one you linked. Thanks for the info.
