These three are what it looked like right before it came home.
The big drum in the back was full of a nasty mixture of Diesel, oil and water. Found a friend who wanted the tank for their trailer. I shrugged and took it over to him. We were both happy.
The next three are of the beginning of my cleanup. I took the lunette off because at the time my Willys had a ball on the back and the pintle hooks were prohibitively expensive. I was planning at this point in time having the trailer sandblasted and painted, which is why the fenders and light were removed. But I ran out of money.
So as such, I started putting it back together again. First off was the lights. Took them apart, changed out the bulbs for 12V (military lights are 24V), hit them with the wire wheel and a couple shots of gloss black.
The Harbor Freight ones on the back wall of the trailer have since been relegated to the spare parts bin. I picked up a tongue jack and ball hitch for the front.
Also got 3 wheels and tires for it.
That's where it basically sits right now. I've already used it to pay for itself. 3 runs of metal recycling later and I made my money back on it. We've also used it around the apartment complex I live/work at as a trash/tool hauler. It's nice to be able to use it like a 3 wheeled wheelbarrow too.

Andy, I already have several plans for it. I've got a spare battery, air compressor with tanks, my inverter and a couple other goodies for it. My ZJ has the power connections to do everything I want built in. So stand by for a few changes over the next couple months (if Mother Nature cooperates).

Some of you guys have a great looking trailer. I just got to take mine on the trails for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Loved the way it handled and carried all of my camping gear.

Just got mine finished this past spring. Put about 2000 tow miles on it and we love it.
Where did you get those rubber latches in the 3rd picture? I want something like that to hold the lid on my trailer. I was thinking of getting the ones that hold the hood down on a tractor trailer, but I'll bet they are pretty expensive.
Here's mine that is in the process of being made trail worthy. I still think it might be a little too long but we'll see.
This is it with the old 8" tires on it
And this is with the new tires. I plan on putting a lid on it and painting it this weekend. BTW I scored the rims and tires for $30 and I have the other two in the garage.
Well mine is in the works!
I have the frame, sliding tongue, and some small pipe to protect the wiring. The 4 corner upright supports are done as well. My buddy just called with a used 2000lb axle off a boat trailer. Other than the 1.5x3" tube frame, the rest is scrap I had around the shop. The floor will be 1/2" plywood, walls will be 1/4" plywood, and cant decide if I want the top to be a canvas tonneau, or plywood. The plywood top would give me another area to pack, but the canvas is light and removable.
