hey. im looking into getting a Nissan Frontier, Crew Cab, 4x4. i have a '92 YJ as well, which i use as a daily driver, but is not really usefull for long distances. so im looking into getting the truck to save a little on gas, have more passenger space, and for these cold and rainy days we are having, and for some roadtrips i like to make now and then... i wouldnt tow the jeep with the truck, only my bassboat, which i tow with my jeep right now without a problem.
the jeep sits in 35s, so fuel economy is not good. how much would a truck improve it?
also, what are the prices for a 2000-2002 Frontier?? in my area i can get them for 6500-7500. is that about right??

I just saw a 2002 2wd Crew cab with 73k down the street, not sure what it sold for but they were asking a little under 9k.

the first gen frontiers 98-04 are not great on gas at all lucky if you get into the high teens. Also the V6s are dogs very little power. if you want a frontier look into a 05+ much better truck all around lot more power better MPG. I owned a 06 worked on a few pre 05s that friends had. Though that being said my hemi ram gets better MPGs and is a lot more reliable then either gen frontier

thanx!!
i really prefer the looks of the older models, around 2000 or so... the newer models, in my opinion, dont look as good....
i see there are 3 versions of the crew cab, one is SE, other one is SC and the other one XE... the SC has more power apparently, but i dont really know the differences between the 3 of them??
thanx again!!

I would avoid the super charged rigs at all costs they eat crank sensors and head gaskets. the SE has a little nicer interior over the XE but not a lot of difference between the models with crew cabs.

thanx irongrave!!
so the SC is supercharged i assume.... and the other 2 only have interior differences??
do you know anything about the 4x4? i know it wont wheel like my jeep, but i want it at least to be decent to get the boat out of the water... i do a lot of camping but that would be done mainly with the jeep....

the 4x4 system is good for a stock rig they can do a lot with 31in tires. their week point is their steering but there are fixes for that.

the center links are week and tend to snap with 33s but a mild lift and 33s works very well.

what do you mean by the center links?? the bars?? we made a crowwover steering for my yj, so i think i could replace the bars with stronger ones if thats the problem... and yes, i would use as little lift as possible to fit 33"... this would be used for highway, so i dont want to loose stability or control and end up with a slow vehicle like my jeep....
thanx!
