I found a M101 trailer locally for $500 converted to 12v, and with a 4 pin plug on it for the jeep....

It is camo, with the racks like seen in the picture below, brand new tires on it and has a title to go with it, so its ready to goto the MVA to get tagged.

Question is, will my TJ pull it with no problem and is it a good deal?

That's an M101A1, so it will be lacking the surge brakes and it has the 5 bolt wheels compared to the 8 lug Chevy (A2) or the HMMWV wheels (A3). I'd say the price is a little high. I see it has the bows... does it have canvas too?

There are a handful of M101A2s at Ft. Meade starting on auction 2/14. They are complete with bows and canvas, they might have the preferable fiberglass slats (hard to tell from the pics), and the 24v to 12v conversion is a piece of cake.

As far as towing goes, I've towed a few M101s behind my TJ empty and it was ok, but not great. I think the empty weight is ~1,200#, so you've got some room for gear. I don't think I'd like to tow a loaded M101 behind my TJ for any real distance. I hate to tell ya, but ideally you should track down an M416. Unfortunately they are getting harder and harder to find, and unless you luck out, when you find one you sure have to pay for it.

ok, honestly i was thinking the same thing as far as a little too heavy...

Watch those trailers.. out here they go for less than what the guy is asking for the A1 in your OP. Maybe you could test drive that one to see how you'd like it. I guess it wasn't terrible, but you could definitely tell it was back there and it made my Jeep extra doggy on any sort of hill, and that was empty.

ok... i did a CL search and a few M416's popped up, but nothing worthy of even looking at or even worth restoring.

I will keep on the lookout.
