Ideas for making the section more effective - FAQ needed?

Hi folks

I inherited this section when I was appointed as a mod, and I noticed it didn't have rules and guidelines or even a FAQ when I first popped in. In fact, come to think of it, I'm not sure I even checked on it before I was a mod

It does look like we have some regulars in this section, and I'm sure you've seen some semi-repetitive questions. Would a "formal" FAQ be helpful at all? Perhaps a sticky dedicated to hitch types (ball, pintle, etc)?

How can I help make this a more informative/useful/popular section?

I appreciate your initiative - but it seems that no one ever reads an FAQ or sticky before posting anyway - and even if they do, they still post the question.

Compared to the other sections I visit - this one is pretty quiet - just FYI (:

I fear you're right on the FAQ thing...sometimes you do wonder why it's there

I agree this section is also extremely quiet...maybe that's why I'm looking for something to spice it up a bit

What about just a few definitions (cover the simple items)? That way the section can be more dedicated to displays/show-n-tell of rigs and trailers?

my 2 cents...

There seems to be 2 very different groups here: Those towing Jeeps, and those towing WITH their Jeeps. My suggestions for stickies or whatever they're called are:

1. What do I need to do to tow my Jeep on all 4? (Inside would obviously be a listing of what models can be flat towed and what needs to be done to do so.)

2. Post pics of your Jeep Trailers (A lot of people have cool old military trailers, tent trailers, etc and they're all over the place in here. One spot to see all different flavors would be cool.

3. Jeep Towing Capacities (obvious again. towing capacities of stock Jeep models.

I agree with Tdog that most don't bother reading them, but these are pretty basic categories and a lot of the people looking for #1 and #3 aren't as long winded as most of us. They just want basic info to safely tow. I think it'd be helpful.

Fantastic ideas guys - from the week or so that I've been (actually) paying attention to this section, I've seen that those items sure would be nice.

Thanks, and keep the ideas flowing!

hey

I'm not sure if this is what you wanted, but I just posted a thread where people can post pics of their trailers. If you want to stickimicize it, it shall be stickied...

How about a sticky for people to post pics of their tow rigs.

I`d like to see this too.I just purchased a 16 ft car hauler and looking at adding additional tie down points to it.I would like to see what others have on theirs as far as setups/storage.

Sounds great - Should we have both cargo trailers that are pulled behind the Jeep as well as Jeep haulers in the trailer thread we have, or should there be a tow rig/trailer thread?

My opinion, haulers and pull behinds should be separate. It would be less effort to find which one your looking for.

Keep them separate. Rigs in one thread, trailers in another.

I think we've got our consensus now. Who wants to be the first posters for the new stickies? We need a thread for tow rigs, and a thread for vehicle trailers (I think we can do toy haulers/campers, flatbeds, etc).
