Hemi Commander Towing?

We are currently towing our 1 ton Cj7 on a 16' tandem axle trailer with an 01 Grand Cherokee with a 4.7l. The trailer has electric brakes and an equalizer hitch. The ride isn't bad but we have never had a panic situation to maneuver out of yet. We are currently looking at Jeep Commanders with the 5.7l Hemi to replace the Wj. We do realize it will be a compromise but in the grand scheme of things, the amount of times per year we tow the Cj honestly does not warrant the need for a full blown tow rig yet. Has anyone here had any real world seat time experience with a Hemi Commander? What are your thoughts?

I tow a camper with a Hemi Durango. While its not a diesel it still tows well. I would have rather bought a Dodge P/U with a Cummins in it but my wife wanted an SUV with 3 rows of seats. I think the Hemi is probably the best gas motor your gonna get to tow with other than maybe a suburban with a 6.0 V8.
Our Durango does not have a tow package but it still tows well. We are towing a 21ft camper. Its only about 3300#'s dry and about 4000#'s loaded. I have weight distribution hitch and electric brakes. Once I get a chance to go wheeling I do plan on towing my CJ with it on a trailer.
Im not sure of the tow ratings on the Commanders. The Durangos have two different ratings for the tow package vs the non tow package. The main difference is the size of the trans cooler and the gear ratio.
