Hi, new member...

Hi, new member here, long-time Jeep owner and enthusiast (1969 Jeep Super Wagoneer).

Do you know what a Jerrari is? It's a 1969 Jeep Wagoneer with the V-12 engine, transmission, and front clip of a Ferrari 365GT installed. Two were built, and one of the two is currently available on eBay.

For complete details, visit this link:

http://www.automotivetraveler.com/in...261&Itemid=181

Some think it sacrilege -- in both the Jeep and Ferrari communities -- others think it's kind of cool; I fit into the latter category. As a full-size Jeep owner, I think it's pretty audacious. No matter how you feel about it, you have to admire Bill Harrah for basically thumbing his nose at Enzo (who refused to build him a four-wheel-drive Ferrari so he could drive between Lake Tahoe and Reno in the winter).

Take a look, leave your comments. More photos and additional details available at the link above.

Jay Leno on President Bush

:cheers2:Jay Leno on President Bush (Surprising)

No matter what your political convictions are...

:cheers2:Jay Leno on President Bush (Surprising)

No matter what your political convictions are this is eye opener. What a thankless people we are!!!

Jay Leno wrote this; it's the Jay Leno we don't often see....

As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.

The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?'

A. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?

B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic
Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?

F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.

H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

I.. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

J.. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained
firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

L. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the presidents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

M.. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander-in- chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.

The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ' 'general' discharge, an 'other than honorable' discharge or, worst case scenario, a' dishonorable' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations.

They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of
the Pledge of Allegiance?'

Jay Leno

I find it a little unusual to see such dislike for the MKs. No they aren't TJs,
but they aren't supposed to be. They are
supposed to be economical vehicles, that
get good gas mileage, that can survive
light trail duy. TJs and JKs are great
vehicles, but they aren't for everybody.
In fact, the market for such gas-guzzling
vehicles is quite small, and I would
suspect shrinking. Should Jeep be
satisfied with this ever-shrinking market?
There is certainly nothing wrong with
meeting the interests of that segment, but
if Jeep wants to grow, or at least not
shrink into oblivion, they have to expand
their portfolio to meet the needs of the
general population. The Compass and
Patriot do just that. Sales for the JK
are already slipping, and gas prices I'm
sure are playing no small role in that.
Jeep will need the MKs (or something
similar) in the future if it wants to
survive.

*Vehicle ban set for desert park*

Sonoran Desert swath extensively damaged

Vehicle ban set for desert park

Sonoran Desert swath extensively damaged
141 commentsby Ginger D. Richardson - May. 13, 2008 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic

Starting next month, a huge swath of the Sonoran Desert National Monument, one of the state's most prized parcels of public land, will be closed to off-road enthusiasts.

The federal Bureau of Land Management is banning all vehicular traffic, including motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles, from 55,000 acres of the popular desert wilderness because of extensive environmental damage.

The closure is expected to last two to three years. During that time, the area, which includes nearly 89 miles of vehicle routes, will be open only to hikers and equestrians.

Land-use officials and conservationists say the action is necessary because reckless riders have torn up the soil, ripped up the native plant cover and marred the desert landscape with illegal dumping.

"There are places in this closure (area) that look like a moonscape because the recklessness of these vehicles has been so extensive," said Daniel Patterson, Southwest director for Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. "There is no plant life there at all."

The Sonoran Desert National Monument encompasses nearly 500,000 acres of public land about one hour's drive southwest of Phoenix. It is home to three congressionally designated wilderness areas, archaeological and historic sites, and a trio of mountain ranges.

The number of visitors to the area skyrocketed with the population growth in nearby communities like Gila Bend and Maricopa.

Land officials say they hope to restore the habitat by evening out the vehicle tracks and planting new vegetation.

"Basically, much of what we do is manual labor, hand labor, because we don't want to use equipment that will cause more damage than it actually repairs," said Karen Kelleher, acting field manager for the BLM's Lower Sonoran Office.

They also plan an extensive public-education program and are developing a future land-use plan designed to both improve recreational opportunities and minimize future environmental problems.

News of the coming ban was not a surprise to off-road enthusiasts. Don Hood of Cave Creek is vice president of the Arizona Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition. He said his organization understands that a lot of damage has occurred in the desert area south of the Valley.

"The explosion of off-highway vehicles has led to an increase of people out there who think this is just a game," Hood said. "They don't know the rules, they don't know where to go, they don't know right from wrong, because no one has ever taught them."

The new ban brings with it stiff penalties. Those who violate the order by heading into the closed area with a motor vehicle could face a $1,000 fine and up to one year in prison, said Pamela Mathis, public-affairs specialist for the BLM. Recreational users who are found to have caused damage to the area's resources could be hit with up to $100,000 in fines.

The ban is expected to take effect in mid-June, or 30 days after the BLM's order is published in the Federal Register. That publication is expected on Wednesday.

well, I got to keep my job. And now, my 2 best friends are working with me. This friday is my last day in high school! :D I'm really excited. I get to start working full time, which is 45 hours a week, and at $8/hr, an a 90 hour paycheck, i'm gonna start making some good money. At the same time, I can't believe I'm saying it, but I'm actually going to miss school, not because I liek it, god, I hate it, but i'm going to miss my friends, and the few teachers who were actually worth something. Now I just gotta figure out what the hell i'm gonna do with my life. I've not yet decided on college. But fire fighting is the top of the list for careers, the other ones I've always been interested in are piloting and locomotive engineering. We'll see where this trail goes I suppose...

Well I did get my KK out of the mud, you can see that from the pics. It was a good experience for me as a beginner. I have never gotten stuck before, but I have taken my sidekick off road a few times.
I just returned from a off road park here in Germany. It was a lot of fun, I didn’t get stuck, but I was a little bit more careful. But I did have a lot of fun and saw some great trucks. One guy rolled while trying to go up a 75% grade hill, he was fine, got winched on his wheels by another guy (in a samurai). I did see a whole bunch of Jeeps and Suzuki’s, but I also saw a lot of Mercedes Benz’s, a old army Jeep with a Mercedes engine in it. And a really cool mutant samurai that had a rear end cut off, an opal engine in it, the radiator and battery in the back along with the winch, and it got routed to the front. It really was a wicked little truck, I posted some pics, I don’t have a lot of room to post all of them but if you are in Europe (Germany) I can let you know where this place is and prices. But most the folks there speak germen, and maybe very little English. It cost 22 EUR for the whole day of wheelin around the place, and I think 40EUR to wheel and camp out.
